The nine-day anointment (Mahamastakabhisheka celebrations) of the 35-foot monolith Venoor Bhagwan Shri Bahubali Swamy celebrations in Venur, Dakshina Kannada began on a colourful note on Saturday Night, 28/01/2012 . Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the celebrations. The monolith assumed different colours as the pastes and fluids of different ingredients such as tender coconut water, milk, sugarcane juice, kakshachurna (a concoction), turmeric paste, etc, were poured one after the other.
