There are about 50 stone crushers and quarries around the National Park spread acrosss the three districts of Golaghat, Nagaon and Karbi Anglong, violating a 1996 notification of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), which declared an area within a 15 km radius of the Numaligarh Oil Refinery as No-Development Zone (NDZ) keeping in mind the eco-sensitivity of the area.
